Investments

The Foundation investment services exist to provide faithful, professional options for Iowa United Methodist Churches and related institutions in the stewardship of endowments and long term funds.

Foundation’s investment services are designed to:

adhere to the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church
provide high caliper professional management, affordable due to the economies of scale
achieve good long-term results
supply consistent accounting of invested funds
provide professionally trained staff to help church and organization committees understand their investments and the accounting
assist in the preservation of local church funds’ historical purposes and intent
build an important bridge of knowledge as committees and officers change over time
offer these complete services for low cost

Investments are monitored by the Foundation’s Investment Committee. All members of the Committee are members of local Iowa United Methodist churches and are attuned to the needs of local congregations. Members are chosen because of their financial, business, and/or not-for-profit experience and interest.

The Committee recommends to the Board of Directors the policies and procedures that govern the funds. In addition, Committee hires investment council and conducts quarterly reviews, with a formal evaluation of counsel and all policies at least every five years.
