Foundation Enables $17,500 Matching Funds to be Given | Iowa United Methodist Foundation
September 5, 2019
Thank you for your generous donations to the Iowa United Methodist Foundation Clergy Leadership fund!
This year, because of the Iowa United Methodist Foundation’s participation in the Excellence in Clergy Leadership Scholarship matching program, a total of $17,500.00 was awarded to the two Iowa seminary students who applied! Overall, 139 seminary students were awarded a total of $1,209,000.00 million in scholarships for this academic year.
The Foundation is so glad that we are able to partner with others to make a huge impact in students’ lives. We are very proud of these two individuals for the positive influences they have already had on the people around them and are excited to see what they will do in their ministerial careers in the future.
The Excellence in Clergy Leadership Scholarship is designated for full-time master of divinity students enrolled at one of the 13 United Methodist seminaries/schools of theology. Applicants must be pursuing certified candidacy or be a certified candidate for ministry (elder or deacon), with demonstrated merit, progress and commitment in the candidacy process. They must also show demonstrated financial need and how this scholarship will help avoid additional student loans.
The award amount is based on matching donations and award approval from several participating donors. This scholarship opportunity will be available again in January, 2020. Find more information about this opportunity on the GBHEM website under the Ministry as a Career Scholarships section.
The Iowa United Methodist Foundation scholarships will open on December 1, 2019. We have several scholarships available including general scholarships for all students of the church, Iowa UM scholarships for students attending United Methodist colleges, and United Methodist seminary scholarships for students following the call to join the ministry. Find more information about Foundation scholarships on our website.
